| Supporting People in the town centre |
All people are precious. Each one of us is special & unique. But we’re often not treated as such.
If you’re worried or feel alone
it may be something specific or just generally
If no-one wants to listen or no-one understands
or if you simply want to talk
Bromley Town Chaplaincy is a team of people
who care!
who you can trust!
who are outside your situation and
will keep what you say confidential!
We are available to listen and be supportive
and to offer a helping hand |
| The Team |
The team of chaplains are from different Churches and backgrounds comprising both ministers and lay people. We’ve been around a bit, but we’re not experts and we’re not saints. We’re simply people offering to be with other people in the joys and troubles of life. We will visit department stores, theatres, shopping malls, banks, the civic centre, the courts, the police, public spaces and other locations within the town centre as required |
|
| The Work Place |
Many people spend the greater part of their day at work and often we take work home, if only in our heads. The work we do shapes our lives, develops us as human beings and in it we need to find human value and belonging.
Sometimes we feel the pressure and the stress more than anything, and this needs to be resolved. |
|
| Lack of Work |
It may be that we have no work (paid or unpaid), that we have nothing to do, that we feel we are of no use or value. We may feel like this, but it’s not true. Every one of us is unique, special and irreplaceable |
|
| Availability |
The Bromley Town Chaplaincy team is available to visit people in the work place within the town centre of Bromley. This can be done by approaching any member of the team or by formal appointments arranged, privately or through your company.
We will also meet people in a public space or church in the town centre on an ad hoc appointment basis.
If you wish, we can remain anonymous and just speak & listen from the end of the phone |
|
| A Listening Ear |
You might want to talk about personal issues, yourself or your family, or work related issues. The chaplaincy team provides an independent listening ear that can complement existing structures and services. Also we are able to refer people to professional bodies where necessary, if agreed, as a part of the support to the individual. |
|
| Liaison and Advocacy |
The role of the chaplain can be used as part of the support to staff in areas of liaison and advocacy where invited. |
|
| Crisis Support |
In association with other professional bodies the chaplain will offer crisis/trauma support if the need arises. |
|
| Town Centre Events |
The Bromley Town Chaplaincy will look to participate and support religious events and celebrations within the town centre, working with existing partnerships with commercial managers and local authority. |
|
| Youth and The Town Centre |
Many young people use the town at all times of the day and night; some create a nuisance and endanger people and/or property. The Church in Bromley, with many existing partners, is seeking ways of supporting each other in this important area of work, and addressing some major issues.
Bromley Town Chaplaincy and Street Pastors is part of this initiative with the Chaplaincy focusing more on the day-economy and Street Pastors on the evening & night-economy. |
|
| The Town Centre Community |
The town centre is a large community made up of many different people from major stores to market street traders, elderly and young people. The Bromley Town Chaplaincy seeks to be a part of this 'community' complementing it with support networks and partnerships. |
